The Original Washoe Health System
Renown Health is one of the largest locally owned healthcare facilities in Northern Nevada that is not for profit. System-wide they was able to grow to have more than five thousand and five hundred employees.
They originally went by the name of Washoe Health System and was founded in 1862 and in 1864 it was Nevada’s first hospital.
In 2006, Washoe changed its name to Renown Health and in 2007 became the first hospital to perform robotic surgery in Northern Nevada using the DaVinci surgical system.
In 2014, Slonim became the president and CEO of Renown Health. He is board certified in Pediatrics, Internal Medicine and Pediatric Critical Care. In the month of July, the organization was the fourth in the world to perform The DaVinci surgery and the first in the West Coast Area. Later that year, Renown Health and the University of Nevada School of Medicine decided to expand and increase the number of physicians who practice in the Northern Nevada area by expanding the medical school.
Renown In Summit Mall, South Reno
Renown Medical Group, located at the Summit Mall, is a clinic that provides care services in the South Reno area. Medical Director , Dr. McCormack, explained during a telephone interview that the clinic was designed to offer an inviting and comfortable atmosphere for individuals that were looking for assistance.
She explained that they might wait to see what kind of healthcare will be on the market since it is a time of transformation between Obamacare and its replacement. The clinic currently has a dedicated staff of 11 people and is looking for at least one more primary care physician and nurse. Dr. McCormack stated that the area has a large growing population and this should increase and improve their need for primary care clinics in the region.
